Diet
The diet of a wombat consists of mainly plants because it is a herbivore. Their main food they eat is mostly of grasses, sedges, herbs, bark and roots. Their teeth are very large and resemble teeth of small rodents like mice and rats that were used for gnawing on tough vegetation and bark. They have a very slow metabolism that only allows them to digest food in 14 days. This makes them survive very well in the bad conditions of Australia. It also is what causes them to move as little as possible and what makes them known for taking as many shortcuts as possible. | ![]() |
