Habitat

Wombats are not found in many places. Only in the southeast coast of Australia can you see the furry little creature and in very small numbers in the northeast. Wombats prefer temperate regions with woodlands, shrub-lands, heath, coastal regions, and hilly and mountainous regions. They seem to prefer wetter, forested, rocky regions that are cooler. They also are looking for areas that have good drainage from the rain for their burrows.
